Have you driven the Cayman? Once you drive one it’s hard not to love it. The 981 is a fantastic platform. You notice a big difference with the mid engine layout. The car is so balanced and feels like it pivots around it’s midpoint where as with the 996 you feel the pendulum effect in the rear. I was shocked at how good the 981 was.
