Default Euro Plates - legal as front replacements?

Is a custom euro plate with my current tag number legal in any state that requires a front plate? I was already given a warning at a checkpoint for not having my front plate on.

If your state requires a front plate, you can only display the plate assigned to the car by the DMV.

Lose the plate, order a new one, keep the order documents in the car.

i don't bother with a front plate, even though they're required in mass. i got a ticket for it once when i got a speeding ticket for doing 97 in a 65. i think the ticket was $35 and the magistrate threw it out when i said the plate bracket was broken and i was in the process of getting it fixed. (not true or course). the other times i've gotten tickets the cops didn't say anything about the missing front plate.
