are for cassettes rather than CD's which is by far the most prevalent I've seen in 996's of that era. The car also has a CD changer located in the frunk so this option for linking to my iPhone leaves no features unusable.
Since you have a '03 and the prior owner most likely didn't order a cassette (like my 80-year-old first owner, if indeed the option was still offered at that point) all of the above is a moot point. But I thought I'd offer it as one never knows, right?

You'll need to remove the head unit to plug in the antenna adapter. You'll need the radio removal keys for that job. Next you need to remove the small, carpeted panel on the driver's side lower center console, you basically pull it off. From there you'll find an unused wire harness for the cell phone. I clipped the ground and 12v switched wires and connected them to the Tranzit unit with butt connectors I picked up at the hardware store. Then I ran the mic from my visor, down the a-pillar, under the dash to the Tranzit. Finally I stuck the call button to the dash to the left of the head unit behind the steering wheel.
The sound is fantastic and it works like a charm. The Bluetooth connects near instantly the key is turned on, unlike my factory VW system, or Ford Sync which take a few seconds. I highly recommend it. It wasn't too hard.

The last thing I want when driving my 996 is to have a phone conversation. Of course it’s not my daily driver. Don’t tell my wife you can install bluetooth in it, thanks.

If you want a simple decent solution go the transitblu, if you want the best quality solution go Dension gateway 500 + WMA1000.
Amazon also have a fiber optic unit with Bluetooth for around $150? Haven't seen it used but I do t see why it wouldnt work.
