Rennline Cyber Security Issue?
I just received a letter in the mail from Rennline Automotive in Vt. with a notice that their e-commerce site had been compromised and customer data was taken during specific periods mentioned in the letter. They seem to think that my information might have been captured, although the last 4 digits of the car that they feel has been compromised does not correspond to any of my cards. Wondering if anyone else has bought from them (I bought their really nice magnetic phone mount) and received the same letter.
...or is it a spoof?

Got the same letter today, I was wondering how my card got hacked, right about the time frame on the letter. Two charges, first for $350 which was not challanged by my card company, the second for $950+,both for a west coast forwarding company. The larger transaction set off the alarm and notified me. I called my card company and they cancelled my card and issued a new one. No real damage to me, but annoying and upsetting neverthless.

What was the time period? I bought one of those same magnetic mounts from them, but no letter so far.

Letter stated that client information was redirected to another server since April of 2018. I froze my card and ordered a new one.

I heard about it on Facebook.
I worried about it for a few minutes then checked how I’d paid.
Luckily I had used PayPal to buy stuff from them, at least the last couple of times.
I’m going to double check that all of my purchases were via PayPal later today.

I had a $350 fraud on my card in December my bank did not catch. Thankfully I did and they refunded it but certainly annoying. I'm sure the Rennline breach was the source and I ordered some things from them around the same time. Everyone should certainly comb back through their statements to make sure nothing got purchased by mistake.

I ordered some parts from Rennline on Nov. 26th and had the very same credit card (Capital One) used for two fraudulent charges at NIKE.COM totaling roughly $500 on December 7th, 2018. I caught it via a text alert sent to my phone and notified Capital One. Had to jump through the various hoops to cancel the card and obtain a new one. What is shocking to me is that (according to Rennline's letter that I received in the mail yesterday), the breach in question occurred as far back as May 28th of last year .... and yet they didnt discover it until January 18, 2019.
That's pathetic.
Breaches like this can cost a retailer heavy fines and penalties from the credit card companies.
As can be expected, they take their transaction security extremely important.

Just checked. I ordered my Rennline phone mount through Pelican instead of directly from Renline... Looks like that might have saved me a bit of headache.

the amount of companies that have these problems is getting worse, i wont even order stuff online from most companies unless they accept paypal most of the time because this happens so often
i ordered from them but paid via paypal

Perhaps its best if we order things via telephone to avoid this quagmire. More worrisome to me is that they captured not only your CC number, but name/address/and all data associated with the card including the card verification code. I agree with Diablo that with this happening all the way back to May 2018 and NOT recognizing the breach is totally pathetic in this day and age.
