I am trying to change my avatar (the weird camel on the left..) but any picture i try to replace with is too large for avatar use.. it says it should be 200x200pixels..
What is the best way to reduce regular pictures to a smaller pixel size? Is there a specific software to do this?!
but if you want to "crop" the picture, meaning if you want to cut out just a portion of the picture at 200x200 then you can use a variety of photo editing software. photoshop is great, but it's not free. There are programs built into windows that allow you to do "cropping" but it will take longer to explain to you how to do it. it's not that hard, just a lot of instructions. try the ez thumbnail and when you resize the picture choose 200x200.
Waz I really like the camel so gald you won't change it.
For reizing or if you have a digital camera you might like a program called ACDSEE, not as powerful as Photoshop but great for browsing your photo library and making simple edits like rotate/resize etc.
Irfanview is a very versatile image viewer/ media player. It seems to show/ play just about anything and it's free. It also allows you to resize images very easily. You can get it at http://www.irfanview.com/ About the only thing to be aware of is that if you have some specific file types that you like to view or hear through specific software such as the Windows media player, make sure you tell it that during the install or it will associate itself with all the file types it recognizes.
