Default 996 and back seat dogs

My previous beloved cockapoo Max weighed a little over 20 pounds. He passed away at almost 18 years this past April. Now, Luke is our 7 month old wonderful standard poodle. 57 pounds. Probably 10 more poinds to go. He is a big one. Lol.

So, back seats down or up for him? Any ideas on seat protectors unique to 911s and 996s? Oh, he goes most places with us so leaving him behind is not an option.

I wish I could bring my lab-mix mutt in the 996. She's 45lbs or so. But she'd tear up the leather with her paws. She's already done a number on my F-150 center console: She stands on her hind legs in the rear of the F-150, and "sits" with her paws, forelegs and chest down on the center console. So the center console is all scratched up.

I'd love to have the dog in the back, but I believe she'd scratch it all up. Not happening on my watch.

I wanted so bad to bring my doggo with me in my Pcars. But, first time I did, she scratched the center console leather. And I don't think she liked it that much anyway. She's a 55-60 GSD mix, and doesn't stay still.
Maybe I'll find a way, but she owns two other cars lol

My Springer Spaniel is 60 lb. He is really uncomfortable in the back but is great in the passenger seat.

But, he prefers the Lexus any day.

I'd think the rear seats down should work. Your lucky you can bring your dog with you in your 996. I have a 100 lbs Labrador that has destroyed the interior of my old truck so that is the only car she rides in. Our German cars are off limits for her. 😀

Wrong dog for a 911... If he must be driven in a Porsche, buy a Macan or a Cayanne. I'd buy a inexpensive pick-up...

Here is a company that may be able to help you. They can do custom work if you can provide a pattern, and make floor liners / seat covers that go up the sides and backs of the seats. I have a floor liner in the back of my BMW GT and have been very pleased with it. If you call the phone number they can probably talk to you about their best ideas. No personal interest etc., just a satisfied customer.

The seat bottoms on the 996 are only held in by velcro. They lift out pretty easily. If you tend to take him places a lot, I'd pull the seat bottoms out and put down a thick padded moving blanket to protect the rear carpeting. If you want to give him some additional room, the seat backs unbolt pretty quickly as well. https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...removal-996tt/

Strap the pooch in too. You don't want a flying poodle if you get into an accident.

In my jeep I have a cover that essentially covers the back seat and hangs on the front seats. He is comfortable enough in that. I will try that in the p-car. I'm worried about him scratching stuff too. That being said, he really doesn't move around very much. Here's a pic. He is 7 months old....

Sure, but dogs are fun! Years ago (30++) I was working in sales for the Tampa Mercedes-Benz dealership. Sold a guy a new 560SEL sedan. We always included hand-painted pinstripe with the owner's initials on the front doors. The customer had his initials put on the driver's door, his wife's on the front passenger door, and "Jake" on the back driver's side door. I asked who "Jake" was, and it was his dog that went everywhere with him. Over the next couple of years he brought Jake to the dealership many times - we all looked forward to playing with the big friendly black lab. His car always seemed pretty clean inside too, amazingly.
