My car’s interior was a sea of gray when I bought it so a lot of what I’ve done was to break that up.
Everything I’ve done is reversible in case I ever want to put it back to original.

A 3 spoke sport steering to replace the gray 4 spoke, black center console and a black shift ****/gaiter with 997 shifter.

The car had gray floor mats when I picked it up but it had black and gray Coco Mats in a box with extra parts so I put ‘em in.

I couldn’t see any reason why I would ever need a cigarette lighter so I swapped it out for a USB charger.

Also a new Continental head unit and Focal speaker upgrade.

I got a mat that covers the rear seat backs when they’re down. I wish I hadn’t picked red for the lettering though because there is nothing else red anywhere on the car so it looks a little out of place.

Insanely overpriced umbrella that will never get used.

It’s made specifically to go in the passenger side door sill cubby.

I also picked up a rear view mirror with a compass that I haven’t gotten around to installing.

I have done a whole bunch of upgrades I did to my 996.1 and only one was a failure:
1) 996 GT3 euro Seats
2) Agency roll bar
3) Rear seats removed
4) New .2 instrument cluster with yellow FVD faceplates
5) FVD shifter with yellow trim (this did not work out because I did not like the feel...went back to stock)
6) 997 shifter to shorten shifts
7) .2 HVAC controller
8) Extended 997 GT3 seat belt recepticals
9) Porsche aluminum pedals
10) Fire extinguisher
11) 5 point harnesses
12) hard wired radar detector power
13) GT3 console delete
14) three spoke OEM steering wheel
I am sure I missed some other things...

My next project when car is out of storage is to install front and rear dashcam like I have done with my Turbo S once I have the car out of winter storage.

I installed it about one month after buying the car back in late March of 2017 so I never really had a chance to get used to the stock one. I wouldn't say it's my favorite **** of all time but it's fine for what I use the car for.

I have Orient Red metallic over Savannah.
The car only has standard interior, but it did have console paint to match as factory option.
I removed rear seats and belts and added a Dassport roll bar, that I had painted to match. It has a chrome fire extinguisher mounted.
I added a Techart style GT3 Flat bottom smaller diameter thicker grip steering wheel.
I added a new leather boot with color match stitching and then disassembled the shift **** top and painted color match.
I added an OBD II monitoring system that fits into the area where the CD storage unit was, this was offered by a member on either 6speed or Rennlist, it is really nice, because it gives you and CEL codes right away and the ability to clear instantly, also has nice features like throttle position, exact digital rpm etc. Rennline phone mount.
Since installing the wheel, I have also added an Ecliptech II shift light, with also feature launch control light feature.
I had some faux beige Techart mats with red trim made, but have never used them ( posted in parts for sale).
Rennline aluminum floor mats.
I purchased stainless gauge rings to install after I to take out gauge surround and paint to match, I have the thin dash trim pieces that go across horizontal, but have not painted them yet.
There has been a few sets of Factory Savannah GT3 seats come up for sale, but they have been always out of my price range.

@SoCal911t Wow - that looks great. That was the shift **** that I was going to get, but a fellow Rennlister had a near-new factory shift **** so I bought that from him. How do you like the Continental radio? Also I need some new speakers - at least one of the front speakers in my car is blown - are you happy with your replacements?
Thanks! Daryll

Any photos of this?

Also, what can be done with the door cards?

Default Retro interior

Love it or hate it, I went full retro with my recent reupholstering project.

Also added seat heaters controlled by factory switches, Pioneer double din, hard wired passport, dash cam, compass mirror w/ homelink, rear seat delete with subs. Just some personal upgrades.

  • Installed an upgraded steering wheel (OE aluminum look steering wheel in my 996)
  • Installed contrasting floor mats to bring a little bit of "pop" to the interior (996 and 997)
  • Installed a variety of leather bits (Some OE, some from Exclusive Option), including: leather armrest with model logo and stitching, leather mirror triangles, upgraded leather pieces fo the center console with custom stitching, etc. (Mostly 997, but some in the 996 also)
  • Had the leather bolsters replaced on both front seats, and had seat heating added during the process (996)
Dennis, tell us about the seat bolster replacement. Did a shop make their own or did they use Porsche replacement cost? Mine need help!

They were custom made by a local shop. It was $250 per seat. Well worth the price, in my opinion.

What is the make and model of the USB charger? Matches perfectly.

sasilverbullet, how hard was it to remove the soft touch coating from the center console to prep for paint. I have heard it is difficult. I have several interior pieces I would like to paint as they are nicked and need to be refinished. I want to paint a different color to break up the interior and am not a fan of the Soft touch anyway.
