Getting ready for the 2019 PCA Parade
Just registered for my first PCA parade! Planning to bring my 2004 C4S to the Concour. As I live in CT, I am planning to tow the car on my wife's Mercedes GLE. Any advise on what's the best way to do that? Is there any recommendation for a a place where to rent a trailer? I would love to drive the 1,300 mile there but with wife and a 4 year old boys, that would be quite difficult

UHaul rents trailers that can accommodate a 911. The last time I did it, it was something like $125/day (you might get a break on multi day rentals?). The trailers are heavy, but will get the job done.
Or buy a trailer. I have a Trailex featherweight open trailer that is awesome, and made specifically for the 911. They're light so can be trailered by vehicles with lower tow ratings and don't use as much fuel. They come up for sale here on Rennlist occasionally (that's where I got mine). I could probably be convinced to part with mine, since I'm not doing as much track time as I had hoped/expected. If you are interested PM me and we can discuss it

Auto train sounds like a cool option. I’d never heard of that before.
One way to look at a trailer purchase is as a great deal on a rental. Buy a trailer for a fair price, use it for a week and resell it for the purchase price to a track addict. Free rental!

Just an FYI be sure to read the rules carefully for Concours (you can find them on the Parade Website) to make sure: 1. You pick the most appropriate class for your car, a lot of 1st timers end up picking the wrong class and therefore have a bad experience with a mismatch between their car and what the class is judged on (the PCA LOVES rules... so some of them aren't obvious or logical to 1st timers). 2. Many of the classes will knock points for trailering the car to the event (even though you have a logical/logistical reason to do it other than keeping it pristine), so make sure you understand the implications of that as often the deduct for that is oftentimes enough to take your car out of contention.
The U-haul trailers work great, you will want to cut a couple 12"x12" blocks to go under the front wheels as the front overhang is usually higher than the lower front bumper cover on a 996, so you need to add a little clearance. Price check with Penske as well, their trailers are almost identical. Have fun and see you there!
