Marker light plug?
Does anyone know how to release the terminal on this connector? It's for the front side marker light. The terminals always have little tabs to catch in the plug body to keep it from pulling out, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get it released. Wire broke off right at the terminal crimp

Usually using a pin release tool inserted into the two square openings around each pin. You can see each pin has two wings you need to squeeze in before you can pull the pin out (toward the wire direction)
You can try with a hair clip or eye glasses screwdrivers.

You'll also need a proper crimping tool too.
The cheap universal ones don't work very well.

Thanks guys! That cutaway really helps to identify where the tabs are. It's a real miserable one to release, crazy tight, and without the wire to pull with, nearly impossible even with three hands. Spend forever wrestling it and still wouldn't let go. That's what happens when Porsche uses BMW parts! (plug is a BMW part oddly enough). I eventually gave up, and seeing it's only a marker light, used a Dremel to make a small opening (surgical, about the diameter of a pencil head) in side of plug and soldered the wire back on through the hole, then epoxied over it. In the end, pretty tidy for a bodge job. I'll pick up a new plug at some point and replace it properly.

Actually the plug is made for BMW and VW Auto Gruppe...which then includes Porsche.
I have the same plugs for BMW.
I can't remember if it is a Vanos Plug or another that is the same.
I think I have some female sockets with 10cm of wire.
If that's what you need, let me know and I'll send you one.
You can also order them from: http://www.getbmwparts.com
But no need to buy one and spend lots of $$ on shipping, I can mail you one if I have it.

That's very generous TexSquirrel! Thanks! If you do find one, I would very much appreciate it. Don't go out of your way though. Good to know where I can order one though.

I have several of the connectors, but it takes one of these crimpers.
Let me know if you have a pair available.
If not, I‘ll crimp some wire on the connector so you can splice it and I‘ll mail it to you.

Yes, I'm familiar with the crimper, and have access to one. No problem there. Thanks for looking TexSquirrel. If it's a BMW part, I'm sure I can get it at my local BMW dealer. Any idea where on a BMW this little plug might be located? I know the button puncher at BMW is going to want a make, model and serial number, as they do when you buy windshield washer fluid.

Let me check tonight and get the part number off the connector that fit mine.
I test fitted it lastnight, but didn't write down the number.
The socket is used throughout the 1-series, 3-series, and 5-series.
I think it is the same as the Vanos connector or the temperature connector: (#9 and #10 in the diagram here)
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=UC73-USA-10-2008-E82-BMW-135i&diagId=11_3967
The terminals for those sockets would be 12521427608.
If I'm correct, tell them it is the terminal for a Vanos on a 2009 BMW 135i.(But let me double check tonight)
You can find part numbers for most BMW connectors from here:
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=UC73-USA-10-2008-E82-BMW-135i&mg=61
I wish we had something similar available for Porsche, although the PETs are better than most makes have.

Looks like a regular ev1 fuel injector connector to me. You can take your parking light to autozone to find a matching one. I get that you may prefer the stock connector though.

I checked and I was correct on the BMW part number for the terminal.
@Ahsai is correct too that it is the same plug as a Bosch Fuel Injector.
I checked that too tonight.
So you should be able to find a replacement plug and terminals at a decent auto parts store.
