Anyone know if you can just get this piece? This is where the reverse gear cable connects.

That would be a tricky repair and being a fairly critical part i'd just replace it with a 997 version unless maybe the FunctionFirst rebuild kit has a part to replace it.

I'd look for a good used 997 shifter on eBay.
I found a GT3 shifter that was real cheap on eBay.
It was from a burned GT3 with low miles.
One of the best mods I've done to my 996!
I OWN A GT3! ...in a hushed voice, "shifter and brake ducts."

I found a 997 shifter and installed it. I was just hoping to be able to repair this one for a spare. I put a short shifter in it and I was hoping this little plastic piece wouldn't make it just junk... Not sure if the 997 shifter is truly any better. Maybe smoother but I I found the short shifter I installed a bit too notchy for a daily driver. Maybe because I couldn't align it perfectly like the 997 shifters with the shift alignment tool.

I would just put it away and maybe in 20 years it will be worth fixing it.
