Porsche 997 oil scavenge tube in M96
Hi guys
I was looking at the desing of the M96 oil scavenge tubes. On the M96 the scavenge tube are equipped with a 'can' which is for removing air bubbles I guess?
The 997 oil scavenge tube PN 99710701600
the tubes doesnt have that "can" on the exit and I wonder if theses are bit less restrictive when rerurning the oil?
Do you know if theses parts can be fitted without any issues to an M96 engine? And if so can in make an advantage over the "stock" part?
Im trying to figure out if theses return tube woukd be a good addition with my X51 oil pan!
thanks!

Yes thee 997 tubes can be installed in a 996. The 996 tubes have "swirl pots" aimed at reducing oil foaming. The 997's do not. The argument is the 997 tubes get oil back into the bottom of the sump faster. LN Engineering includes the 997 tubes with their 996 deep sump kits.

I installed the LN Engineering 2 qt deep simp kit which came with the 997 tubes. I have tracked it with no issues.
The original owner of my 99 C2 installed an X51 baffle that ran for many years (probably close to 20) with the old 996 swirl pots. The car has been tracked for thousands of miles, literally. I installed the new X51 baffle that came with the 2 qt kit since it has metal doors and the old baffle had rubber doors that are now fairly old, although they do appear to be in good condition. No visible change in oil pressure on the track between either setup, although I have more confidence with the deep sump kit that I will not get foam or air in the oil pickup tube during long hard corners.

I also installed the 997 tubes when I installed the LN 2qt deep sump.
But I HAVE noticed an increase in oil pressure.
Idle before was normally just barely over 1bar and after is between 1.5 and 2.0 bar.
There were two pieces of gasket material in the oil pick up screen, but they were VERY tiny pieces.
Perhaps removing them was the entire cause of the increase, but the tubes may have helped too.
They're a simple swap.

It's possible I also had an improvement in oil pressure, but it wasn't enough for me to notice. Oil pressure at hot idle has always been over 1 bar, so I haven't paid close attention.
