Has anyone painted there mufflers?
I am having the Fister mod done to my exhaust as we speak. Have any of you guys painted your own?
If you did what did you use?
Hows it holding up?

Do you mean Fister?
Look into high temp header paints from VHT. Napa has a good selection.

I've painted headers before and don't see why you couldn't use header paint on the cans.

Have FD Motorsports do their ceramic coating while they are doing the Fister Mods.

I’m sure FD does a great job on the coatings but they don’t do it for free. I won’t see the dam things when they are in place so why would I spend $260-$300. I am cool with doing some things myself.
I think I found the right stuff Por-15 seems to be the stuff!

I used high heat paint on mufflers back in the 1980s to 1990s and it worked fine back then.
Probably works fine these days too.

I used the VHT high temp paint in non shiny silver color. Got it on Amazon. Turned out great, and looks the same as the ceramic coating to me. Its held up well over the last two years so far.

Be very careful with POR-15. Its nasty stuff. I used it to paint a complete engine bay, then used their tie coat primer (old datsun 240Z). I used a respirator - a mask wont do. Also note any bolt hole you cover will need to be re tapped. Its an incredibly hard finish.

Por-15 seems like overkill for exhaust unless there is corrosion. Is Por-15 rated for exhaust temps?
