I'm about to change my tires (P Zero Asimmetrico, which I don't like much on the wet) and I've been told that the new CSC2 are much better than the CSC1.
Any feedback from you guys?
Thanks!

Mikla,
I currently have 2's on my 996 (factory installed) and also had them on a 2002 Audi S4. I've never had issues with the tires (wear or road noise).
Yes, the 2's are much improved over the 1's.

they don't have the traction on dry pavement that michellins or just about any other tire for that matter, i took them off my last 996 and all 3 of my mercedes because of that

i much prefer the conti 2's to the pzero's my car came with. they are much better in the wet and quite adequate in the dry. they are also more quiet and smoother. much better for a daily driver.

I've got the factory installed CSC2's on my 03 C2. Fine when dry, however, not the best when pavement is wet. Most of the time, depending on pavement, they are quiet. I can't imagine a tire being quieter either.
Just got back from 1400mi AZ trip. On AZ's smooth black top road they were great.

IMO:
By far the WORST tire I have ever had on a car in my life!! I had them on my 18" stock wheels and then again on my HRE's and they are both horrible. Absolutly no traction in dry or wet... I felt like I was driving on a freakin ice skating rink!! I just got new 19" wheels put on and switched to Pirelli Pzero Rossos and they are FAR superior to most tires out there. I suggest looking into either Michlein Sport Pilot 2 tires when they come available or Bridgestone S03's if you dislike the Pirelli's...

I normaly am a big Potenza S03 Fan, on my 03 Targa the CSC2 stock on 18" the rears are 285/30/18 - thus far they are pretty dam good. I had CSC1 on my 00 986S and I also hated them, within two months I switched them out for S03. The new tread design is good in wet and dry. I only had my Traga for two weeks and maybe put on 500 miles. Recently we had 11" of snow and I got caught in a storm with the CSC2 - I was very impressed with the handling of the Traga in the snow without snow tires. To some it all up, I like the CSC2 so far...

i wonder how many people who are critical of the conti sport contacts actually are referring to the "1" not the "2". amg-etr's experience sounds like a completely different tire than what i have. i wouldn't use them in the snow. imo, snow tires are a must for the 996.
btw, i believe the s02a's are the porsche approved bridgestones not the so3's.

I didn't like the CSC2 either. Okay in the dry, didn't last to use them in the wet. I didn't think they were very quiet when they had tread, again didn't last till the treads were wearing thin. I autocross my car as often as I have time for the CSC2 were horrible. The tires were vulcanized on every rib and were heavily blistered (after 3 autocross events).
Currently running with SO3 and much better. I'll be trying the SO2a next time since I've heard so many good comments on them.

well 2 of my sets where definatly the 2's, one set came stock on my wife's 2003 slk32 amg and the other on my 2003 E500 sport, my C320 may have actually been the 1's, but either way i found them to be "sucky"

I quite like the Sport Contact 2s. Obviously not the stickiest choice, but every tyre is a compromise and for me, they offer a good balance of mileage, wet and dry performance.
FWIW, I've asked Horst von Saurma, who holds most of the Porsche lap records on the Nurburgring, and he thinks they are pretty decent in terms of everyday performance. Not a tyre for breaking lap records, of course
Cheers,
Uwe

Thanks Uwe, I will not track with my car and I expect a good compromise on all aspects. On top of this, I'll be getting a very good price for the CSC2 (20% less than the others) so it is worth the try.

I'm not too happy with the Asymetricos either, but I think I'm going to drop the hammer on some Pilot Sport PS2s in the spring.
However, if I was getting your deal on the Contis, I'd consider them.
