I have one of those kits sitting on the bench ready to go and didn't know if I wanted to install it until reading your post. I second the Function 1st Bushings, I would NOT get the hardest (Racing) compound though. I did the bushings when I had the IMS done. It made a noticeable difference, much better shifts and way more direct feel. Goes great with the RSS motor mounts. The Racing inserts to give you a little feedback where you can feel vibrations at times, that's why I would go with the softer compound. I'm probably going to install the shifter in the off season.

My understanding is 997 GT3 uses metal components, feels sharper, but the throw isn't really shortened. The 997 SSK uses plastic parts, but is significantly shorter throw. The 997 standard they say is shorter than 996, but my experience was nearly identical 996 vs standard 997. 997 SSK for me was a huge upgrade vs standard 997.
