Neither of my 996 manul transmission cars have them. Any chance it is a gt2/gt3 part? I believe they have transmission coolers, so ducting there would make more sense.

I'll check markings on it tomorrow. Car did get x51 power kit installed at Brumos back in 2004.
Also has gt3 aero kit as well.
