why would one of my converters go bad?

2002 996 13,000 miles

car runs great. check engine light came on, took it to the dealer and the dx came up.

Mine went bad at about the same mileage. It actually first manifested as a rattle. Something inside had broken loose. CEL came on several hundred miles later.

I have had 6 cats fail on me!It was finally determined that the problem was that I was running the PSE in the "open"constantly in fact I hadn't had the electronics installed .It wasn't untill PCNA started getting upset that It was recommended that I have the PSE stuff installed it seems to have solved the problem.My cats were sort of melting down from the core.
