996 Coil-Over suggestions. Help!
This winter I am planning to upgrade my OEM suspension to something a bit more track/auto-x oriented. I have experience with Bilstein's and Koni's in the distant past on early 911s, 944s & 914s but I am not too familiar with the latest products from KW, Bilstein, H&R, etc. I'm considering coil-overs for my 996 but want so find something which could be a good balance for both street driving and the occasional track day. Also I would like to find something which will not lower the car too much. What can you recommend? This would be for a 1999 996 C4.

I recently installed Feal coilovers.
I have them set to stock height, so you could lower them as much or as little as you want.
It's my daily driver so I don't want it super low or super stiff either.
You can adjust the dampening as well as the height.
They're a great price too.
I haven't gotten them on the track yet, but hope to before too long.

Feal looks interesting. I took a look at their website but did not see a selection for the C4 (should not make a difference but you never know). I may give them a call tomorrow and see what they have. They are semi local to me too.
Any other suggestions?

Going to do sway bars and drop links, too? What about rear toe links? It's a slippery slope...

Yes, it does make a difference. The C4 chassis is both stiffer and heavier than the C2. The front suspension geometry is also different due to the front drive shafts... The spec is the same for C4, Turbo and C4s variants

I'm thinking I may go this way. The R&Ts look like they have the damping and height adjust-ability I'm looking for. Plus, I have used Ohlins on many of my motorcycles in the past.

If your pockets are deep enough Ohlins
for much less money the H&R street performance coilovers do fine on the track and are easy to live with off the track . They have h&r springs and bilstein cores very similar to the h&r bilstein joint venture units the factory 996 gt3 came with
