Default Short vacation update - no problem

I asked opinions on Saturday re: taking the new-to-me 2000 996 cabriolet on a 1200 mile trip. Many thanks for the responses and the link on another “vacation thread.”

Started packing and checking tire pressures, jack, spare, etc. Rear passenger tire had a nail in it. !!!
Removed tire & plugged it. Took it for a shakedown run and all was well.

Here we are, back home. It was fantastic. Smooth, great mileage, albeit not great with rough highways (I-75 to Gatlinburg). As soon as we rolled into Gatlinburg Saturday night, the check engine light came on. Lol. P1128 and P1130, which is code for “could be almost anything from misfire to vacuum leak to MAF to etc etc.” had the codes reset, and LITERALLY pulled into my driveway tonight and it came back on.

Will try cleaning the MAF and see what happens. Then on to spark plugs, etc.

Great car; ton of fun. Glad I did it but WOW I need to figure out a cup holder.

Glad you had a great trip!

Yeah, thankfully I don't judge my car by its cup holders.

Glad you had a great time with it. I have this cup holder.

I like it but it's only for cups, not cans or bottles. It just slides in and out of the gap in the front center console.

Sounds like a great trip. Try this cupholder. Works well for me.

These are great cars! Glad you had a good trip and here's looking forward to many more.

Now, about cup holders...C'mon people...doesn't the lack of a cup holder scream sports car?
This inconvenience has allowed me to:
1. Enforce the "no food in dad's car" rule super easily.
2. Significantly reduce the family's misc trash bits from accumulating
3. Reduce the monthly Starbucks contribution

I am joking of course but the way I use the car I won't ever get cup holders. Both hands on the wheel and, as needed... pull over, step out, admire and refresh with a beverage

Porsche: "Ignition on left so driver can leap in and start car faster - check. Lack of cupholders so driver doesn't spill scalding coffee in his lap while navigating Le Mans at 200+ mph: check."
