I'm looking for is a roof rack for a 996 which is large/sturdy enough to put a platform on to hold a minimum of 2 996 wheels or more. I've seen people with earlier 911s do this in the past to bring their race tires to trackdays. I was hoping someone here could recommend a rack system which could work. Is the Porsche factory rack my only option? Thanks.

 

I have the Porsche factory one I have never used but I know I will one day. I would only use the Porsche one. It fits both my 996 and 997.

Not to long ago a forum member sold his roof rack (for a 996/997) that easily held four mounted wheels.
He had pictures. It was a site to see.

I am looking on the purchase of a apparently nice 2003 996 Carrera, but it rose my attention the fact that it has the Carrera S emblem on the back, also red painted brake calipers.
As far as I understand there was no rear wheel drive Carrera S until the 997 gen.

Can someone clarify this please?
