Need Help Identifying Part - 40 Jahre 996
Hi Rennlist,
First time poster here seeking some help identifying a part and finding a reputable seller. I recently got my hands on a 40 Jahre 911, but the third brake light is inoperable. Being new to the Porsche world, I believe that the car has the optional Aerokit. The OEM light appears to be by HELLA and I've searched what I believe is the part number without success. I've also searched Pelican Parts and Suncoast but couldn't find a similar third brake light. I'm planning on keeping this car OEM and do not want to resort to third party options. Any help would be appreciated!

It's part # 996.631.980.00 (Hella part #2DA0074210170). About $80-$90 from the dealer. It was apparently used on some European travel trailers too. There are people on British ebay selling them for $25 or less but they don't want to ship International.

Sweet car and sweet wing! I've got the same on on my 40th anniversary as well. Thought I might be the only one with the Aero kit/40th Combo. Looks great good luck getting it fixed. Here's mine at the local Concours. Wing has grown on me for sure.

I'm not sure but I have always assumed it was a dealer installed option. The owner I purchased from bought the car CPO with 5k miles and he did not add the spoiler. Have no idea for sure, but assume it was installed at the dealer upon purchase.

probably so. Honestly it looks better in your photos than I remember it looking.
There's a taco wing 40th out there, and as much as I looooove the taco wing, it looks better with the full mk1 aero kit. Just not "period correct" on a mk2.
I've also seen the GT3 wing on the 40th, which I also like. But I think the one you have looks the most natural. Does it pop up like the turbo wing or is it static? How is the visibility/wind noise?

At first I wasn't sure about it... had actually planned to take it off and sell it to pay for some of the car. But after I received the car I started to love it. Looks really good from the side. It is a static wing and no visibility issues at all also makes no noise.

Congrats on the recent acquisition of that lovely 40 Jahre 911! You have to tell us where you got that license plate frame. I'm sure there are a bunch of us who would love to get our hands on one of those. When you get a moment please shoot me an email at 40jahre911@gmail.com so I can get a few details about you and your car to update the Registry. I'm eager to learn what number your car is (mine is Nr. 0711). Thanks and looking forward to meeting you (albeit electronically). Ted
Thanks for the warm welcome! The license plate frame was a made at a local custom frame shop, you'd probably be able to find someone who can do it in your area. As for the car info, I'll be sure to send an email to you soon!

Looks great, e90steve! I ordered the part from Sonnen and will replace the light next week. Should be an easy screw-in swap! It looks like you have spacers on your ride. This is something I'm interested in, mind if I ask what size spacers you installed front/rear?

I do have spacers. 15mm all around. I also have 19's from a 997, but I did run the 15mm spacers on the OEM 18" wheel for a while. It looked much better and never felt there was any negatives in terms of performance. They are Adaptec hubcentric with the extended lugs and I purchased them from one of the rennlist vendors. I highly recommend them. Actually was considering going 20mm in the front.
