Default '02 RMS Boomerang

Posted last week inquiring about protection for the C4S "chin guard". Several people mentioned a metal plate made in California called a Boomerang. It seemed that the metal would take the brunt of steep driveway scrapes instead of the black plastic spoiler, so I ordered one. When I took it to the Dealer to have it put on, it turned out that it's meant to protect the metal area behind the spoiler. I didn't want the service visit to be a total waste of time so I had a new spoiler installed. While doing this they discovered a RMS leak. How common is this on an '02 with 10K? Is it the kind of repair that stays fixed? This is my 1st Porsche and although I had heard of this happening on 1999 and a few 2000 models, was not aware of it on more recent ones. The car has been babied, so I felt like I'd been hit by a boomerang.

Welcome to the club. Did the dealer offer anything other than to replace the seal? The PCA website has 2 recent posts for RMS failure on a '01 and '03. So, it appears that the problem is still there.

Here is a link to a recent RMS poll:

Good luck.
