Muffler Delete Sound
Lots of posts on ths topic over the years, but this morning I was in traffic with my humble stock 1999 C2 996 behind a 997 Carrera 4 GTS. Wow did his car sound sweet compared to mine. My question is, would doing a muffler delete make it sound as good as his sounded ? Granted I know this is a loaded question since I have no idea if his was stock or special mufflers or even muffler delete.

Get your mufflers modded by Fister. You won't be disappointed.

Well in that case you're the winner, would like to know how you like them once you have them installed. I'm still on the fence about this, but the YouTube videos look/sound good.

One of the selling points of the 996 that I bought last year was the previous owner had installed Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers.
I knew I would want aftermarket exhaust and there was no way that I would spend $2K on "just" mufflers.
Now that I own them, I think they WOULD have been worth the money.
Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers, Fabspeed intake, and GT3 throttle body really make the 996 sound awesome!

I did the Fister Sport Exhaust. Had them send the mufflers, then sent mine in as a core. My 996 is a daily driver, so i was looking for no down time. It is the best money I’ve spent on the car so far. Sounds awesome at higher RPM, but not to loud around town. Very nice growl at idle. They were also very helpful at Fister when I had questions. Easy installation. Took me about three hours. I could probably do it in half the time after doing it. Order the $50 hardware kit, worth every penny. Don’t try to reuse the rusted bolts. My 996 sounds the way a Porsche should now.

by the time you are all done it’s going to be in the neighborhood of $500. The mod is $400, and you have to ship both ways.
