"Failed oil indicator"
During normal driving I heard a "beep" alerting me to the OBC screen. It read "Failed oil indicator".
My oil level is and has always been fine (confirmed by the dipstick). No obvious faults in the engine bay.
Is this just a freak incident? My search didn't turn up much...

Computer is not getting a signal from the oil indicator. Try rebooting (ie switch off ignition and then on again. If that does nothing check the wiring to the lidicator level sender, see if it is intact.
Those are the easy fixes, next is a trip to the shop.

Thanks for the replies. The fault went away on its own, but now you guys have me curious.
