DIY Proud!
So, armed with my new found DIY confidence after I put in a B&M shifter, I put my PSE in myself this evening! (Only the mufflers, of course). I'm 2 for 2 now.
It took me a few hours, including unpacking my new jack/jakcstands and tools, and generally taking things slow.
I love it! Can't wait to drive around tomorrow!

Ain't it grand when you do something sweet like that, especially on a jewel like a Porsche. It's now your car more than ever
My GHL exhaust arrived. I plan on installing them today.
Whats your impression on the short shifter?
I find the selection across the gates laterally to be a little vague on the stock shifter but then again I never owned a 6 speed before. Also I took a 25 year hiatus on shifting gears so head/wrist action is rusty too.

Congrats, Nova. I assume you've got it configured to be on all of the time? That's the way mine was installed and the PSE growl is always on hand with just a quick push on the pedal at any speed...
My PSE arrived today. I will probably wait on the install until I resolve my RMS issue. Any suggestions for the DIY? Did you use your factory tips? Any alignment problems? I have Loren's instructions and it looks pretty straight forward.
Yep, it's on all the time because I installed the mufflers only. I like the sound. It's not much louder than the stock 03 exhaust. It is a little deeper and just different in character. I imagine it would be a huge improvement over the 99-01 stock sound. It's more of an incremental improvement on the 03 (and I imagine the 02-04), but it's a noticeable improvement.
I'll post some observations/mistakes I made.

I used Loren's directions. It was pretty straightforward. I took the wheels off. That was very helpful. I got both sides up at the same time and took the wheels off first so I get a better view. Also, I found that the two forward nuts on the passenger side muffler bracket were much easier to work coming from outside the car through the rear passenger wheel well.
I did it myself. I don't remember thinking "oh I can use an extra pair of hands here".
Here are the parts that I found a little challenging:
1.) The nuts on the passenger side are hard to reach. There isn't much space for a ratchet to move there. So I did that side first. The driver's side is easier.
2.) On the driver's side I forgot to slide the clamp between the cat and muffler into position before I finished tightening the muffler bracket. Oops. I had to wrestle a bit there. On the passenger side I did it the right way, I mounted the muffler (let it hang on the bolts), slid the clamp into position (loose) and then put the nuts on the muffler bracket. Don't know why I forgot that the second time.
3.) I had a hard time for a while getting the exhaust tip clamp onto the tip and the muffler at the same time. But I think I was just being a idiot. Because the second one was easy.
4.) On the exhaust tip clamp, make sure you think about where that nut will end up when you mount the muffler. I found it easier to tighten the nuts on the bracket, then tighten the clamp to the cat, and then adjust the tip position and tighten the tip clamp last. So that means you need that clamp to a be in a good position to get that tightened after everything else is in place. I had no trouble getting the tips to line up where I wanted them and matching perfectly left/right.
