Default Family camping trip in a 911!

Who says a 996 isn't a family car!

we packed all our camping gear into the bonnet of the car and the rear shelf. My wife drove (her car) my youngest in the back with me (I'm 6 foot 2) and my oldest in the passenger seat. We switched spots every 100km or so. Actually I was ok back there as long as I didn't sit straight up, lol. Drive to the mountains was 5 hours. Took the long way home 2 days later. It was ok. As long as we could get out every so often to stretch our legs. Was fund actually. Using compression sacks, I packed everything into the car and everything fit in the bonnet and rear shelf. No food, though. Ate at restaurants.
So a family of 4 CAN go camping in a 911!

Love it. We did one many years ago in a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. You should have seen the looks all the other guys were giving us as we roared thru the mountains with twin turbos, not losing any HP and having a fun drive while they were crawling along in their trucks and campers. The key is to simply pack light and smart, which of course if tough for the average person.

Wow...very impressive....I was expecting to see you and a young family with a couple of kids less than 10 years old. You did this with almost 4 adults...You have to be a tight knit family to do that. So congrats on having a great family!

In our earlier years we toured and camped for a week at a time on a motorcycle. When we got a 911 it was like having a Winnebago. Now we need the Winnebago!
You guys are an inspiration.

Thanks. As I said, the back seat wasn't so bad. Couldn't sit straight so I had to lean over, which was fine as I watched movies on my son's tablet. Was fun seeing all the looks as we drove through Jasper - "who are these crazy people crammed I to that tiny car" lol.

I enjoyed watching my wife's reactions to driving her Sally through those mountain roads. We'll do it again.

lol, I imagine a 911 was absolute luxury and heaven compared to the bike.
