Gear Shiftin' & Brakes 40th Anniv 996
Was at track recently and had trouble shifting from 3rd to 2nd under speed. This was especially true if I was taking a corner, if I was driving straight there was no issue in shifting from 3rd down to 2nd. Any thoughts?
Also, I have thought about replacing brake pads on my own to save $. Any recommendations on what kind of brake pads I should buy? Any tips greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Burning Brakes
Motor Mounts or Transmission mounts?
I wouldn't normally shift in a corner, but I don't think that should effect shifting.

How would you rate your driving? If you are in blue/green intermediate groups, Ferodo DS2500 would be plenty of pad for most tracks. Look for something more aggressive if you are driving closer to Time Trials speeds.
Transmission and engine mounts would help. You have to think that even with fresh mounts, by design the trans and engine "hang" from the car and are gonna swing when you're cornering. Double-clutching the rev will help it fall into the lower gear.

I had a similar shifting issues before I replaced my old engine mounts. You'd be amazed how much they allow the engine to move around, especially when they're old. Takes at maybe 45 minutes to do both. I'd replace the trans mount too for good measure, but that's more of a pain.
