![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
My previous car was a 99 Boxster and the water on the top used to bead up whenever it got wet. My 2000 Carrera Cab top lets the water soak in. There are no problems with leaks however. Are the tops different material?
Is this normal?
Should I do something? Scotchguard?
Thanks..............

It appears as though you do need to treat the top. I don't know if Scotchgard is the same as the convertible protectorant that Porsche sells. You can get the Porsche protectorant from your dealer (maybe he'll give it to you considering) and give it several treatments. That should do it unless the previous owner used some weird chemical on it.

Go to one of the on-line car care places (like autopia) and get the Raggtopp products. They make a cleaner and protectant, both very easy to use. After you use the protectant-2-3 coats, it will do what you want it to do - bead up like a highly waxed car. The whole process takes about 15 minutes, aside from waiting for the top to dry after you use the cleaner.
