Default widest wheel/tire combo on a my99 c2

hey all,

just picked up a '99 996c2 a couple of days ago after owning ( and loving ) a boxster for a few years. man, the power diffference is incredible and intoxicating! the 996 isn't quite as "tossable" as the boxster but the power makes up for it.

so here begin the mods. the car came with crappy 17" porsche wheels so upgrading is in order. after doing some research for the widest tire/wheel i can run, it seems i can run 18x11 295/30-18. does this mean i can run turbo 2's? i really dig these wheels, nice and aggressive but will it cause any rubbing? are the offsets the same as a c2?

anyone knows the offsets for a c2 and turbo2 wheels? anyone running turbo 2s on their narrow body 996

thx all

You can't use the Turbo II rear wheels (ET45) on a narrow body 996. However, you can use 11" wheels with the proper offset. Porsche has one with a 63 mm offset called Sport Techno and the same with the GT3 wheel.

thx for the reply viken,

could i not use the turbo 2 wheel ET45 and use a 20mm spacer to bring the wheel out and effectively get ET65?

No, you cannot. Because, a 45 mm offset with a 20 mm spacer equals a 25 mm offset. A spacer pushes a wheel out and not in.

I think the Turbo2 wheels are available for narrow bodies, but only 10" rear as stated above...

http://www2.us.porsche.com/english/u...dertabelle.htm

There are quite a few sizes of the Turbo IIs from what I have seen...

Rears:
18x12 ET45 solid spoke for GT2
18x11 ET45 hollow spoke for Turbo
18x11 ET45 solid spoke for C4S
18x10 ET65 solid spoke for C2

Fronts:
18x8.5 ET40 solid spoke for GT2
18x8 ET50 hollow spoke for Turbo
18x8 ET50 solid spoke for C4S
18x8 ET52 solid spoke for C2

Please correct me if I'm mistyped anything...

-Scott
