The more I read current/recent reviews or tests about the 996, it's mostly from people who DIDN'T want to like it when it was new and therefore didn't give it much credence as a 'real' 911 and therefore this myth that it's somehow not as good as the rest of the lineup was built. Only now are people seeing it for what it really is- a true and great 911! Total911 did a test vs. a 993 not too long ago and preferred the 996. Coming from such a 'manual+air cooled FOR LYFE' rag, that's quite surprising.

Not only that, it's the first 911 I fell in love with. Never cared for the 964 (except in Turbo guise) nor the 993 (really in any guise except maybe GT2 in speed yellow) so I'm happy to have one.
