2001 911 Turbo vs 2012 Cayman R

Yes the Porsche's are, I rented a S2000 before buying my Boxster S, the S2000 requires you to shift constantly as it has little low rpm torque & all the 2000> Boxsters have a luxury interior compared to the S2000.

Those s2000's are getting rare and expensive by me in NJ. My neighbor had one and sold it a couple of years ago before the prices started climbing. I wish I had bought it and he wishes he never sold it. Have un!
PS my brother in law has a 2012 Cayman R. It's a really great car.

The more I drive my other cars (2018 Subaru and 2014 Honda), the more I love getting in my 996 without any Big LCD screens, especially at night. Nice dark cockpit, no distractions, just a lovely drive. For that reason alone I’d get the Turbo.

I just sold my 2005 S2000 in order to buy my 996TT. That car was a riot, high revving noise maker You can really flog it in city streets and not be breaking the law [much].
S2000s are great driver's cars, but really tight and can get uncomfortable depending on how you are built. My advice is to drive it for a few years, see if you want to get into a p-car down the road. You'll likely sell the S2000 with minimal depreciation, if not a slight increase in value.
