Bubbles and rust around edge of guard in door sill
Anybody has experience with rust bubbles and rust appearing from under the door guard in the door sill. I suppose it is not such a common issue as most of you drive in rather warmer non-maritime climates.
My 2002 996C2 has these signs around the edge of the plastic door guards. It is most visible towards the front distal end where it connects to the side of the door sill. And on both the driver and passenger side
I suppose the door guards are fixed with double adhesive tape and because of that probably have some flexibility. water can creep under it. Also that flexibility makes it possible for the sharper edges to eventually damage the paint under it.
Did not remove any of the guards but I am prepared to find a lot more there.
Any ideas how to best deal with it and prevent it from coming back.?

Remove the sill cover/guard (whatever you want to call it) and see what's going on under there. Any time you see bubbling that means there's rust beneath the paint. That rust is growing and "eating" the metal it's on... Time is not your friend on this one
