Default fister D mod price?

So after going to place after place and getting turned down for the fister mod on my spare mufflers I *finally* found a place that will do it. They just called me with a quote of $300 for the pair, this would be in the style of the attached image.

Is this an ok price? I've been trying to get this done for months. Said I would call the guy back, this place does custom welding on mufflers so I'm pretty confident they will do a good job.

thanks

That's about what Fister charges - and you'll know you're getting it done right.

Just do the Fister mod and have it done right. It will be a far more attractive mod for resale purposes if you have them do it. Just had mine installled and I love it. Haven't turned on the radio since. All exhaust note...

And all together I paid $1,326.00 but I had mine ceramic coated. That is also with $68.00 for shipping to you and $68.00 for a shipping label for your core return. And remember, you get $550 back when you send your current mufflers back to them. Couldn't have been happier with their customer service.

Wow these prices are insane. I had mine done the Gundo way (hooked to the blank PSE port) for $100 CDN, which is like 80 bucks in USD. With my Top Gear 200 cell cats it sounds heavenly with 0 drone.

how? most places I went wouldn't touch this kind of exhaust work.

I'm still undecided, Fister charges $80 for the same exhaust mod and I think these guys are well qualified to do a good job.

EDIT: also 996.2 mufflers will fit my 996.1 right? the spare ones I bought are off a 3.6 slightly newer car than mine.

EDIT2: fleabay has a set of fabspeed maxflo mufflers for sale for $450, are these super noisy? I want something quiet on the freeway but louder when I give it more throttle.

Yes, MK-II mufflers will fit an MK-I. When I had mine done, I wasn't aware of the exchange program so I bought another pair from a Rennlist member and had them shipped to Fister. That was about 7 years ago. I still love the sound.

Total cost to me was $776.00. That included shipping to and from California to Wisconsin and ceramic coating. Thought it was pretty reasonable and not outrageously expensive. If you want to cut costs, don't get the ceramic coating. Fister is the way to go.

Took mine to a local muffler shop, explained what I wanted and they did it for $91.38, it surprised me as i expected it would be around $200. the welding doesn't look great but its sound and I have no leaks.

That's not how Fister modifies the mufflers.

D6lc's mod is PSE style.

Fister D mod is what Chris has in his picture.

Gundo is doing Fister D style but not through Fister...

That's the way I understood.

The original Gundo mod was hooking up to the blank PSE port. Fister then started doing their own mod by joining the inlet and outlet pipes. Somehow, the Fister style has been confused with the Gundo style over the years.

Gundo = PSE, on all the time.
Fister = Inlet/outlet connection

Fister also cleans them up and paints them. Plus from a resale standpoint you have Fister mufflers - which I believe carries some weight. Not to mention he is an overall great guy to work with.
