Default Techart

Does anyone know what a used pair of Techart mufflers are worth? I am thinking if doing a bypass pipe between the inlet, and outlet pipes but would hate to hack up a expensive set of mufflers. The only pricing information i could find using the numbers on them showed "race exhaust" with a $2500.00 price tag. They obviously are not new, are not polished or anything so not sure of the value.

I’ve always wondered the same thing as I have the same exhaust.

FWIW, I bought my set used at the Dismantler place in LA for $1,000 back in 2005-2006 time-frame, so long time ago. They were advertised as Porsche PSE's but when I saw that they were TechArt's instead I did not mind and bought them. But personally I think the PSE's still sound the best for our cars. They were around ~$2K+ new when I checked their website back then.... Cheers,

I was going to purchase a pair on ebay a couple years back.

They also had the Techart chrome tips, so it was a nice clean set up.

They started around $800 then after a few months they were sold for $650, they were close to me, I am in N.Y. and they were in PA.

I passed on them, because they weighed the same as stock, the Tubi mufflers I then purchased were about 35 pounds lighter and sound great.

But since I have installed a lot of Techart components including full suspension, sometimes I wish I had bought them, they were a whole lot cheaper than the Tubi mufflers .

Send a pm if you have the a clean set of tips and mufflers and want to sell them, I might sell the Tubi mufflers

Must be for 996.2, 3.6L non-turbo

WOW, that was a good price for $650 including T/A exhaust tips. Mine did not have the tips nor the clamps to attach the exhaust tips to the mufflers so I had to special order a set from T/A. Anyway my car came with the larger Porsche optioned tips so they are fine. But you are right about the weights, they are heavy but also like the PSE, they have the optional valves for the on/off switch in the cabin if desired. Cheers,

Yours maybe different.
The ones sold on ebay were racing mufflers ( that's what description was), they were not with the valve set-up.
It was a good deal

I have the race mufflers and there is no valving. I know they are the “race” version as I compared the serial plate on the mufflers to TechArt’s website.

I recently purchased a set of what I think are the Techart "race" version. Do you remember if your serial plate had two numbers on it, the bottom number with asterisks? Also, would oem porsche tips work with it? How would you describe the sound?

I'll try and take a look today.

As to the tips, I have the large, oval OEM tips.

I also checked my TA exhaust cans and have similar #'s as Isla.above...

-Passenger side: 096.310.840.208 - 096.310.840.009

These appear to be the ones with the exhaust valve.

Yes, that is correct, I do have the valves on these cans but I do not have the switch to open or close them; so I was always hoping that the valves are always fully open :-) Cheers,

Thanks for the responses. I ended up emailing Techart and it turns out I have the "Touring" exhaust.
