Question Oil-seal to cam solenoid

I've detected a slight oil leak to the seals around the actuator solenoids in both cylinder heads/cam covers. In order to access the seals the exhaust system has to be removed and on a 5 year-old car it is likely that some brute force will be required to separate the header pipes from the cylinder heads. I assume (rightly or wrongly) that the exhaust will be unfit for further use after this. My question is - has anyone any experience of aftermarket "free-flow" headers?
