Just had the test completed and got readings of 235/235/232/235/235/235. Test was performed by an ex-Porsche main dealer lead mechanic who now owns his own business.
Have searched the forum but couldn't find any "spec" numbers to compare my results against. Car has done just over 101k miles and runs great, having just had all the coils replaced.
Anyone any data on what is regarded as excellent vs not so?
your results are excellent. The actual number is variable on many different things, so for compression tests, you want a tight grouping, which is what you have.
As others have said, its more about the values relative to one another. Lots of things can impact the actual compression reading, such as the condition of your battery and how fast the engine cranks during the test. You're really just looking to make sure they are all pretty much the same - and in this case I don't think you could ask for much better than the results you got.

I was taking the car in for a coolant leak and on the way the car started bucking really badly and the check engine light started flashing on and off. Scared the crap out of me (probably because I'm now so programmed into believing this M96 motor will self destruct if you so much as look at it the wrong way). Managed to get the car to the shop (the problem gradually cleared up on the way) and upon diagnosis it was found that the computer had logged a misfire on #1. It was decided the problem was a bad coil so I told the shop to replace them all (it had all plugs replaced about 11k miles ago). During the work I asked the shop to run a comp test to give me some idea of the condition of the motor and check the car over for ANY other issues. Results came back and the shop tells me the car is just about tip top!
So, if I'm so paranoid about the motor in this car, why have I still got it after 7 years???........it's because it's such a damned nice car and probably the best bang for the Porsche buck on the face of the planet!! I've gone back and forward with keeping or selling and so far, keeping has won out. I've done just about everything that has been suggested that is most likely to give problems with the car, other than "the solution" although I do have the ceramic bearing in there. So, there you have it.
And just out of interest, and perhaps some of you folks have seen the same thing.......I got an email from the Porsche main dealer around the middle of last year telling me that Porsche now consider anything over ten years old as "classic" so if I wanted to sell it they'd be happy to do that for me, for a fee of course.......hmmmm.....:-)
