Powdercoating Wheels

Not powdercoated, but I'm very happy with the results. I had the same done to the GT3 wheels. (the bodyshop took this pic & later admitted they had actuated the wing via the switch. I do Not cruise around with it up)

Those look amazing! I guess i probably shouldn't have said "powdercoating", i should have said "However they do it" at the shops. I think I'd like the contrast, yours look amazing!

I have turbo look (I don't think they are the real hollow spoke turbos, but the heavier turbo look ones) black wheels on the 2002 I just picked up. The previous owner had his shop do it for a reasonable price (I think he said about $100 per wheel). My wife isn't a fan, but I don't think they look all that bad.

The other thing i like about it is those Classic II wheels are a pain to keep clean, and thinking the black won't show brake dust as much. If anyone has a silver 996 with black wheels, i'd love to see it.

The black makes them "stay clean" for a much longer time than was the case before the painting (7 seconds to schmutz after a detailed cleaning).
Dust actually gives them a matte look which is not at all unpleasant. . If I recall correctly, I paid something like $125 per wheel and they had the car for 2-3 days.(most importantly, they did not pull the typical indy schmuck trick of zeroing out the trip odometer to hide the 35 mile joyrides, not realizing I snapped a cellphone pic of the odometer when I dropped it off)

Powdercoating wheels is a great way to change up the look of your car. I personally like darker wheels - gunmetal, titanium, satin or gloss black, etc. Bronze and gold are also some of my favorites and I think they would look great on a silver car.
Here is a shot of my signature BBS wheel build. It is a BBS Motorsport E88 finished with a satin black center & a hi-gloss black lip.

Great minds think alike. When the tires on my lightweights go south on my blue car, this is what I had planned. Happy you shared the "after" photo. Mike
