what to do with my 2002 996 gt2
Want to through this out to the forum. Recently bought a lightly modified 2002 996 GT2 with 16,600 miles on it. Have always wanted one and probably should have waited for a clean unmodified one but went for this one. Paid 119,000. I have the engine dropped and am debating whether to take is back to bone stock or update the 9 year old mods that were done to it to get it to my liking and just drive it the way it is. Anyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have a 996 tt with an evom kit on it and love the car. Just want to get a sense of what folks might recommend to do. Thanks!

1) Please show pictures...
2) Don't touch a thing until you need to do something that requires the engine out....then take it back to stock.
Not sure what the price range on 996 GT2s are these days but they are definitely rare and likely to continue going up.

Congrats, and nice choice. Was just talking to a collector the other night about GT2s, and we both agreed—from a driver's perspective...996 GT2 (actually hairy/does not drive like a 996 Turbo) > 993 GT2 (only looks hairy, and drives like a rwd 993 Turbo though its looks are to die for).
I'd sure like to try a bone stock 996 GT2 with modern tires. Otherwise, I'd just make sure the alignment and diff are DIALED and keep on top of it.

Take it back to stock, park it in a garage, start it once a month and let it appreciate in value.

Drive it. Please do NOT treat it like it's something that should be started once per month. The worst thing you can do with these cars is not drive them.

The thing is, if you drive it like it was meant to be, it will depreciate terribly. There are plenty of other Porsche's that are a blast to drive and you won't decrease their value nearly as much in the process.
