Default Another car in the stable...

I need some good advice guys. I currently own a c4s cab: black on black, 49k miles, sport exhaust. super fun car to own and drive. I love everything about the 4s. Ive never been more addicted to a car until now. the question is this: I want to add a coupe to the garage. is it worth the extra money to step up to the turbo? the prices difference from 4s to turbo is about 20-25k, right? ive never driven a turbo so feedback would be much appreciated!

That seems like a pretty good idea before making a $50K purchase.

Impossible to advise without knowing your financial situation. My uncle has a 996 TT X51 which I have driven and in my opinion, yes it is worth the extra money for a couple reasons. First is the amazing power it has and second is the worry free engine over the M96 engine.

I drove a 996 NA Cab for about three years then added a 2003 996 turbo coupe for the winter - now I want to trade the NA 996 Cab in for a turbo Cab, not sure the wife would be on board just yet and I still really like my current car
Garage space is an issue for me as well

For around town, I really like the NA 996. It is less likely to get me in trouble and when I think about how little I have in it as a toy it makes me smile. The 997TT I had was like a roller coaster. The crazy amount of torque it had was addictive. But after 3 or 4 months, when the shiny wore off, I felt like the extra power was a luxury that I didn't need and got very little use out of. And it was so fast that on the street, you were going 80 before you blinked and the ride was over.

Next Saturday I'm taking my ~540rwhp 996TT track car to the track for the first time. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to tell after 1 day but I'm assuming it will be a completely different experience from the 2500# '99 C2 I raced last year.

the top end of my budget is around 50-55k. with that said, is it worth it to buy a c4s in good shape and dump the rest of my cash into a bulletproof rebuild, say a flat 6 innovations 4 liter rebuild? but the reliability of the turbo motor is very appealing as well.

I've heard from several sources that the turbo is just too much power, basically overkill and not comfortably usable if that makes any sense. Not having driven one myself I wouldn't know but I sure wouldn't mind the experience. I'm totally happy with the performance of my 4S and not really tempted to upgrade.
In any case I admire your situation, what great choices and options for you. Good luck in whatever direction you choose!

I disagree. People say this as if the throttle pedal was like a toggle switch and either at idle or full throttle. I found the car to be very controllable even in town. It's not like the old 930 "widow makers" with extreme turbo boost all at once. They are only what, 420HP? If you think that is too much power don't get behind the wheel of a new GT2 with 700HP!

I daily drive my 6TT as much as I can (not much in the winter though) and IN STOCK FORM it's a fantastic daily driver. It's got absolutely effortless power, very streetable manners, quiet and unassuming, and when you want to go fast just step on the gas.
I'd think once you get heavily into mods etc. it's less livable as a daily driver car. Don't know; that's not why I bought it.

In order to prevent turbos from getting a bad wrap on the n/a forum, I am willing to sacrifice a covered parking spot and volunteer to pilot someone's TT for the remainder of winter. Once the ides of March hit, I'll provide a full report and solve this debate conclusively.
