Default 998 dreaming

So what do you guys think will be the engine configuration of the future 998, (not the 997). It seems like the 997 will be a 3.8L engine on a similar platform car like the 996, but I have read in the past that the real change will occur with the 998. I also read somewhere here (by some engineers) that it's a known fact that a 3.8L engine is the most that a flat six engine can be stretched to, for a variety of issues pertaining to horsepower, torque, efficiency, etc. So, what are the chances that the 998, in order to have that jump in power (and be competitive with the current horsepower wars going on), that it will be a whole new variety of engines like they had with their racing cars of the 70's, a flat 8, or a flat 10 or even a flat 12 engine, liquid cooled of course (or not). It would be then a new car sort of what the 911 was to the 356 which was a jump from a flat 4 to a flat 6 engine. I think that a flat 12 would be to big and heavy to hang in the tail, but a flat 8 sounds appealing. I certainly hope they don't put the v8 of the cayenne in there. Now that would be heretic. I hope they stick with the boxer layout, and I would welcome more cylinders. What do you think.

Don't even know about the 997 yet. Not gonna even speculate about a 998!!!
