shop manual
I've been looking at technical manuals, I need to get something for reference as I've just bought my first 996. I have PET so I can look at parts diagrams. I've seen listing for factory shop manuals available on CDs, various $40-150-ish manuals, etc. What do you all use for technical reference, besides Renn-List?

I like the Bentley manual, the knowledge group Torque specs (Jake Raby), and the 101 Projects book (Wayne from Pelican Parts).

^^This^^ is my "library" as well... I fill in the spaces with Rennlist and Renntech for specific questions that aren't addressed directly by the books - you can almost always find someone who has dealt with a similar problem to the one you might be having at any given time. Good luck

I have the Bentley. To be honest, I generally just look at Youtube, Rennlist, Renntech, and Pelican Parts. My experience is that the Bentley leans towards a lot of disassembly. I think to change the spark plugs, it went as far as removing the rear bumper. Which I suppose is safer, but somewhat unnecessary. Also, don't use the Rennlist search function, just Google it with "Rennlist" in the search text.
