My "New" 996
I realized my 40 year dream of owning a Porsche 911. It is a 2004 with 73,000 miles and an excellent CarFax showing 2 previous owners (first one was a lease of only 9,000 miles) and regular dealer servicing. After my extensive research prior to purchase, I decided on the '04 because of the changes to the 996 in '02 which were the glass rear window for the Cab, the 3.6 upgrade, a glove box and the Turbo headlights. I paid $18,600 which I felt was fair. First thing I did was take it to a reputable Indy service facility and had the IMS bearing done, the AOS ( which was putting out James Bond smoke screens), rear main seal, a water pump and thermostat and a trans cooler control valve made of metal instead of plastic. The total cost of these fixes was $3,700. I did these things because of all the things I read and because I just want to drive and not worry about the engine. I am amazed at the performance and equally amazed at the value for the money - 996s are truly the best bargains available. In So Cal there are a whole bunch of silver 996s and not many other colors but this car came to me through a friend and was unexpected but I went with it and am very happy

$18K 2002 (TIP) 72K miles, already had IMS/AOS/RMS taken care of.
Yours is very nice, hope you enjoy it for many years! The value in smiles these cars produce is amazing. I wished it was a manual, until i found out how much my wife LOVES driving it, so it was a happy coincidence. As . she says, it's hard to be sad when you are driving the Porsche!
