Default Grey smoke and losing oil

losing oil blowing grey smoke at start up .so took to shop did a diag . scorched oil found in passenger header/exhaust. removed plug on cylinder 4. oil on plug. any suggestions. my indie shop guy was to vague with his answer.

The next step is run away from "indie shop guy" who obviously is not an experienced Porsche 996 mechanic and apparently does not have the diagnostic tools to provide more insight or rule out possible causes. Post what city you live in so forum members can suggest a shop with Porsche 996 experience. The only people who should be working on these cars when things get beyond oil changes and hanging parts are true "Porsche heads."

Could be AOS Failing. Could be other things.. Crank case pressure test will help chase down the problem.

Any noise to go along with "blowing smoke and losing oil"?

Agree with the other posters. Move it to Porsche Specialist.

If it is AOS, do not drive it. PO of my car drove the car with AOS failure and caused hydrolock (too much oil in cylinder) that it locked up and the engine had to be replaced.
