Default what is the function of this extra air tube

Hello: I have a 01 Carrera. Trying to remove the air box, and noticed there is an extra air tube on the left side of the throttle body inlet.

Checked out some videos on you tube, but could not see this extra tube on these videos

where is this air tube connected to and what is its function

thanks

d

Think it's a vacuum line for the tiptronic system you should be ok to disconnect to remove airbox, it's not on manual cars that's why you have seen vids with this not there, they were probably working on a manual car

Its not a vacuum line if it's on the inlet side of the throttle body..Not sure where it goes, but if it does go to the trans, then it's probably some type of breather/vent.

Rattlsnak is correct. Not all Tips have that extra hose (mine doesn't). People who change out the stock air box for an aftermarket one put a small cone filter on the end of that hose and just leave it hanging.
