996 Engine Mount Replacement How-to DIY Video
I made a video on replacing the engine mounts with aftermarket semi-solid mounts on my 996 that I wanted to share:
Let me know what you think. A couple issues I ran into were:
- having the engine drop a bit on one side and not being able to thread the new mount without jacking up the side with a second jack.
- spinning the square at the bottom of the mount out of position causing it to not sit in the mount hole properly
Here's the mounts I used: "Torque Solution" brand engine mounts: http://amzn.to/2iNXk96

Thank you. Your video makes look so easy.
I will do this myself.
Would you mind sharing what engine mount you are installing and why you chose that instead of the stock rubber one?

i used "Torque Solution" brand engine mounts with the polyurethane inserts. You can get them here: http://amzn.to/2iNXk96
I went with these mainly because i read decent reviews, low price, and preferred a bit firmer drive line. Check out my other video of my impressions driving after installation:

Just a helpful installation tip - It's a good idea to swap out 1 side at a time so that the engine does not move out of position too much. That will help ease assembling everything back together.

FYI, for ghetto semi-solid engine mounts:
-Drill hole in the top of a worn out stock mount
- flush out thoroughly with alcohol and allow to dry
- refill with 3M window weld and allow to cure
- reinstall and enjoy
I know it’s a hack, but for $25 it still accomplished the same thing. And while you are at it, you might as well fill in the gaps on your transmission mount to make it good as new.
If I remember correctly it’s hardness is around 60A shore. McMaster-Carr also carries flexible urethane in various hardnesses as well.
