Default Independent Shops in Los Angeles Area

Looking for a good Independent Porsche Shop in Los Angeles Area.
No By Design (way overpriced, work is not that great!)
No meridian (A LOT OF BS)

Any opnions or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

For maintenance I go to:

Aurel & Don's Inc.
Porsche Mechanics
4429 Lankershim Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA 91602
818-980-6802

They are very straight up and honest. They only work on 911's. They don't do aftermarket mods though. I went to By Design...they were cool, but yeah a bit pricey. The guy at Meridian was a total snob...would never go back there.

The hunt for a great and honest shop in LA is still on, I have heard a lot of bad things about In Design from many people, and it seems the Pcar world is a minefield of bad shops. Isn't there someone straight, honest and who really understands they cars, rather than how to fleece the owners?

What kind of work are you looking for? Redline in Santa Monica has had a pretty good reputation. Then, there Johnson's Alignment in Torrance for suspension work. Next door, there's Callas Rennsport for just about anything.

Glenn's Porsche in San Dimas. He runs a race team, so he's hard to get, but he is the best!!

Glenn is the best. But as has been said, he is very hard to get. I have my 76's 911 engine rebuild for 1 year+. But the work was perfect. The delay was mainly waiting for original porsche parts.

I had a good experience with Redline in Santa Monica, not much cheaper than the dealer though and you have to wait 1-2 weeks before you can make an appointment. L A Meister on La Cienega also looks like good honest people but I was unable to take my car to them since they were too busy at the time.

I had my PPI done at Callas Rennsport.(http://www.callasrennsport.com/calintro.htm). He was able to diagnose a squeak that had evaded 3 prior trips to a local dealer.

You can check out Tony's expertise with P-cars on the site.
