I need to really push the clutch pedal HARD against the floor to get the starter to engage. During operation, the clutch pedal is final, options?

You may need to get the clutch lockout switch replaced at the pedal. if that's what it is, it's a cheap fix.

You may also be able to adjust the switch a bit or the switch itself is loose.

My carpet mat slides forward while driving and prevents the clutch from traveling far enough to activate the switch. Short moment of panic every time. I decided to just eliminate the switch so I could make cold starts without depressing the clutch (and quit fiddling with the carpet mat).

Elimination seems like a good plan. Will help to extend thrust bearing life too. I'm assuming its just a case of wiring the ends together and bingo it works.

Yes. I went a little fancy and used one of those 2 into 1 spade connectors and just plugged into one of the switch terminals and then plugged the two switch connectors into it. I can reverse it any time in about a minute.

I was thinking about a small switch, would be great as a theft deterrent, assuming people still steal cars!!

I like this idea. I think I will do that with mine.
