They entire auction was inflated in my opinion...Lots of people throwing big money around!
No impact on real 996 values.

Wow — that’s an $18,000 car, at most.

That's stupid money for that car. You could easily get a 113k mile 996tt 6 speed cab for that, and then there's the buyer's premium on top. Any chance it was one of the charity donation cars?

The numbers there include the buyer's premium, but still that car sold for $30K too much.
The Vegas auction is always a little funny at the end. Usually Saturday is the big day (which it was) and they have Sunday for some of the cheaper cars to come back through.
In Vegas, it only goes until Saturday, so after all of the big money cars went through, there were a few dozen more cars, at the end, because you can't end the auction with a 1.6MM 918.
All of the cars that ended the auction sold for way too much money. There were some 10 year old AMG cars selling for 50K.
If you have a 996 to sell, place it right after the big money cars at the auction (yes, you pay extra based on placement).

Hawk, is the $43K number what was posted as a "price" online or did you see the actual car go for the $43K in the live auction?
I watch barrett jackson auctions on Velocity and every time when a 996 comes up they go much lower than market price. Heck, I witnessed a beautiful 996 Turbo with low miles sell for less than $30K at Barrett. I couldn't believe. I thought for sure it would hit at least $35K.
