I have a set of the standard seats an a set of 996 Euro GT3 seats. No error codes in my 99 C2 with the GT3 seats. There is a significant difference in weight between the two sets. I like the GT3 seats so they stay in all the time. The only negative is that they are fixed so the rear seats are not accessable for someone to sit in.

I can recommend the Recaro Pole Position.
Looks good and also comfortable even for longer trips.
A more adjustable option is the Recaro Sportster CS.

I am looking at sportster.. but cant find any info on installing.. I want it to sit as low as possible .. and properly install the seat with all the air bags working. no one mentioned how to fix the weight sensor.

I am pretty sure my 99 doesn't have a weight sensor. I don't know when Porsche started using them.

my 2004 doesn't throw any codes and the only electrical thing that's hooked up with the EURO GT3 seats is the seatbelt receptacle.
