Default Help ID'ing a part...

Never thought I would be posting a message like this and for such a silly part...but, here I am. Buttoning up the last of my IMS, AOS, everything-along-the-way job and I don't recall where this plastic part came from! I think it may be for some pipe or tubing at our around the plenum but just not sure.
Anyone have an idea or maybe even a picture?

Appreciate any help!

Chris

I have two engines in my garage (both 2000 model year 996 3.4 engines) and neither of them have a piece that looks like that on or around the AOS, at least that I can see.

Thanks, I was looking for a section of a metal piece...like a bracket that this piece would slide on to and then correspond with a wire harness or some sort of hose; can't figure it out.

My car is a 2004 AE, don't know if this was added in later years or?
Appreciate the feedback.

Must be a later addition. I just triple checked both engines. Nothing exactly like that. The closest are the clips that hold the injector looms above the fuel rail, but the attachment mechanism is different. Sorry.

Good luck in your search.

That might attach to the body work rather than the engine but its definitely a cable holder I would rule it out as a hose holder.

If you look at your air box and also the fuel rail you'll see those types of butterfly clips.

Did it fall out of somewhere? Does it have a part number as looking up the part number will tell you where its used.

Looks like one of the wire clips for a sensor wire.

Like the one on the back of the air box that holds the maf cable in place.

Check to see if you have both these type clips on the back right side of your air box, could be one of them.

It wont be the one at the back or side of the air box, its just the same type. The air box one is like a pin:

I think I just had that part in my hand on Saturday. It is a clip that I believe holds the Crankshaft Position Sensor wire. It attaches just to the right of the AOS. It just holds the wire out of the way so it does not rub on things.

The OP's part has some sort of additional pain section though. Kris the one above looks like its the same style as the airbox/MAF wire clips.

I was actually referring to the one above the one that looks like the MAF clip. The one closer to the AOS, but looking at it again, that's not the part either. That holds the plug, not the wire.

OP, did you change the AOS hard plastic pipe connected to the bank 2 head?

Thanks for the replies all. No, this definitely does not go on the back of the air box, that is the simple design of the one that dan_189 posted. The crank sensor cable appears to be the same.

I feel it is from the engine area as that is all I have messed with so far.
Ahsai, I think you may have me directed to the correct area to look at as that pipe was not removed, but definitely messed around with. Getting in there to get to the AOS, and all the wiring/hoses/intake removal and here this thing sits. I have to believe that this thing slides on to some flat metal bracket?

Yes, I believe it slides onto a metal tab. It's likely '04 specific though. I have an '02 and '03 and have never seen that clip. The closest thing is a similar clip right on top of the center of the engine case that holds the y-starter cable.
