Default Help sorting out 996

I have been finishing up a 1999 996 (Cable operated Throttle body) that suffered an engine fire and have a few issues that I can't figure out. I had to put in a new engine wire harness as the old one melted. The good thing is the engine is running quite well and only get an occasional P1539 code wich I think I can figure out.

I have the following issues.

1. The Temp gauge on the cluster does not operate at all. I replaced the sending unit and it still does not operate. My cooling fans operate correctly and I can monitor actual temp on my OBDII scanner. This leads me to believe that the engine side of the sending unit is functioning correctly.

2. The secondary air pump is not operating correctly. It starts at the turn of the ignition key and keeps operating until I shut off the car. It never goes off when the car is running. It will eventually time out when the car is shut off. ( right now I am running the car with the SAP unplugged. )

I believe these two may be related to the temp gauge and the temp gauge may be responsible for shutting off the SAP.

I might add that when I hooked up the new wire harness I have one connector at the drivers side front of the engine that had no place to go. It is a two wire connector similar to a fuel injector and air valve connector with the small wire spring clip. When I looked at the original harness there was nothing there. ( I'm even wondering if I used a 986 engine wire harness incorrectly but everything else seems to be fitting correctly)

3. My oil level on the dash does not work.

4. My cruise control does not work.

These last two are much more minor to me.

I'm open to any advice or guidance on these issues.

I think my next step is to pull the cluster and test for a signal at the temp gauge. Is there a walk through some where I can look this up?
